🌿 SKVNC SUMMER CAMP 2026 – WEEK 2 UPDATE 🌿

Learning with Joy • Growing with Values • Celebrating Krishna Together

Week 2 at Shri Krishna Vrundavana NC was filled with the beautiful sounds of children chanting shlokas and singing bhajanes, thoughtful questions, inspiring stories, and a little hands-on fun! 🌞🙏

🎶 BHAJANE – SINGING WITH DEVOTION

Our Bala Vrundha children continued to revise Brundavanadi and began learning Krishna Krishna.

The Proudha Vrundha completed Narayanana Nene.

The bhajane sessions go beyond simply learning the songs. Teachers explain the meanings of important words and share small stories connected to them, helping the children understand what they sing and develop a deeper connection with our devotional traditions.

📿 SHLOKA – LEARNING WITH MEANING

The Bala Vrundha continued learning the general shlokas from pages 2 and 3 of their booklet. The children were energetic and enthusiastic, asking many thoughtful questions about the meanings behind the prayers. 😊

The Proudha Vrundha explored the Krishna Namavali Stotram, learning about the significance of the many beautiful names of our beloved Krishna. They also learned the much-loved Preenayamo Vasudevam and discussed its meaning and spiritual significance. 🙏

It is wonderful to see our children not merely memorizing prayers, but asking questions and trying to understand the deeper meaning behind them.

📖 STORIES THAT TEACH DHARMA

This week’s storytelling sessions explored an important question:

What does it mean to speak the truth and walk the path of Dharma?

The children learned that understanding truth and Dharma requires wisdom—and that our parents and Gurus play an important role in guiding us along that path.

The Proudha Vrundha heard the story of Yavakreetha and reflected on why knowledge gained without proper guidance can be dangerous. Through another story, they explored how simply speaking the truth may not always be Dharma if our words unnecessarily cause harm to a Sajjana. The session concluded with lively questions and answers.

The Bala Vrundha heard the inspiring story of Rajamathe Vidula, told to the Pandavas by Kunti, emphasizing how our parents can also be our Gurus. Through the story of the dog and the sage, they learned another simple but powerful lesson: Never forget those who helped you. Be thankful, and do not become greedy.

🛕 TEMPLE ETIQUETTE – LEARNING HOW TO VISIT A TEMPLE

An important part of this week’s Summer Camp learning was Temple Etiquette—helping our children understand not only why we visit a temple, but also how we conduct ourselves when we are there.

The children were introduced to the general structure of a Hindu temple and some of the important aspects of a temple visit. They learned about what to do when entering the temple, how to conduct themselves respectfully in the sacred space, and the proper way to receive Teertha.

The sessions also covered a few important practices and traditions that children encounter when they visit a temple, helping them understand the meaning and purpose behind what they see and do.

Through these simple lessons, we hope our children will become more familiar and comfortable with our temple traditions and learn to approach the temple with devotion, respect, awareness, and understanding. 🙏

After all, the temple is not only a place we visit—it is a place where children can experience our traditions, learn from our Acharyas and elders, and develop a lifelong connection with Krishna and our spiritual heritage. 🌿🦚🙏

🍎🥕 LEARNING BY DOING!

Week 2 also brought a children’s favorite—a hands-on Fruit & Vegetable Cutting Activity!

With kid-safe knives, small cutting boards, fresh fruits and vegetables, and plenty of supervision, the children practiced useful everyday skills while learning about healthy food, independence, teamwork, and kitchen confidence.

And, of course, learning is always more fun when you can eat the results! 😋
