In order to protect Hindu dharma; its religious, cultural practices worldwide; to sustain, spread the Tattvavada philosophy of Acharya Sri Madhwa; and with the intention of blessing the millions of Hindus settled in various countries, His Holiness Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Puthige MaTha, Udupi, has established a chain of Sri  Krishna Vrundavana temples across the globe with idols of Lord Sri Krishna, Sri Mukhyaprana and the Vrindavana of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji.

In particular, to meet the spiritual needs of innumerable Indians settled in the United States of America, and heeding to their requests, Puthige Swamiji has established 11 temples across United States and one in Toronto.

On the holy occasion of Vijayadashami of 2020, Sri Krishna Vrundavana of North Caronila was dedicated to the world,  at Raleigh North Carolina, as the eighth temple in the USA.

The fact that the temple was dedicated on the birthday of Acharya Sri Madhwa who installed Lord Krishna at Udupi, adds further significance to the event and has thrilled the devout. A long pending dream of the devotees of Carolinas has come true and the temple gains the credit of being the first one to be opened on the holy occasion of Vijayadashami.

On Sunday, October 25th  2020, the idols of Lord Sri Krishna and Sri Mukhyaprana and the vrundavana of Sri Raghavendra Swami were installed at an auspicious muhurta;  panchamrutha abhisheka and kalashabhisheka were performed by Puthige Swamiji. In his benedictory speech, Puthige Swamiji said there is a link between the number eight and Lord Krishna, the eighth child of Devaki and the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu who incarnated on Ashtami.

The number eight is dear to Lord Krishna. So, he was pleased and moved by the devotion shown by the people of Raleigh and chose Raleigh as His eighth branch in the USA.
